Is there anyone familiar with SMRPG hacking who'd be willing to walk me through whatever I'm doing wrong? I know this is a lot to ask, but I'd really like to figure this out so that I can actually complete my project.īy the way, it will never be too late to respond to this. Nonetheless, consistently, each time I save the rom sections of the text get messed up in this fashion. It consistently happens every time I save the rom, even though I've been careful not to go over the character limit - and in fact meticulously reworded various existing text to be shorter so that I'd have a higher character limit to work with. Lines of dialogue will merge together or get partially deleted. So I've been exporting and saving my dialogue as text document backups like I'm supposed to, but the problem is, whenever I actually save my changes to the rom, the text gets corrupted. The premise is a fun little retelling of the game's story where Mario (who is silent in the original game) actually has full-on text dialogue like the other characters - his personality being a mix of his portrayal in the old cartoons and how Martinet portrays him at trade shows. That said, I am doing a text-only hack of Super Mario RPG. I know that SMRPG hacking is kind of niche, so I go into this not expecting too many people to be familiar with this issue. The SMW Central SMRPG subforum is locked, and the creator of Lazy Shell can't be reached anymore to my knowledge. I know this is an extremely specific problem, but I really don't know where to turn.
